How to compress an image to a size
- Select one or more photos, or drop them onto the box. On a phone you can pick from your photos.
- Choose the target size, for example 100 KB. If the form also gives a pixel size, choose Largest side.
- Press Compress, then download. Several images come as one ZIP file.
How your files stay private
Your browser does the compressing, in memory, on your device. The page is locked so it cannot send data to any other website. When you press Start over or close the tab, everything is cleared.
Limits
- Up to 20 images, 25 MB each
- JPG, PNG and WebP; results are saved as JPG (transparent areas become white)
- Images are never made smaller than 320 pixels on the longest side
Questions
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Your browser compresses them on your own device. They are never sent to our servers or anyone else's.
How does it reach the size I choose?
It tries real saves at different quality levels and keeps the best-looking one that is not over your target. Only if even low quality is still too big does it make the picture smaller, step by step.
The form says “under 100 KB” - will it be accepted?
The file will be at most 100,000 bytes, which is under 100 KB however the form counts it. Some forms also ask for a pixel size; use Largest side for that.
Why is the result a JPG?
JPG gives the smallest files for photos and scans and is accepted almost everywhere. Transparent areas become white. Images that are already small enough are left exactly as they are.
What if it can't reach the target?
Some detailed images can't get that small without becoming unreadable. The tool stops at 320 pixels on the longest side and tells you the smallest size it reached. Limits: up to 20 images, 25 MB each.
