How to split a PDF
- Select a PDF, or drop it onto the box. On a phone it opens from your Files app.
- Choose Extract pages to make one new PDF from some pages, or Split to cut it into several PDFs - every page, every few pages, or by your own ranges.
- Type the pages if asked, for example 1-3, 5.
- Press the button, then download the result.
How your files stay private
The PDF is read and split by your browser, in memory, and handed straight back to you as a download. The page is locked so it cannot send data to any other website. When you press Start over or close the tab, everything is cleared.
Limits
- One PDF at a time, up to 50 MB
- Password-protected or restricted PDFs can't be split
- Bookmarks, fillable form fields and links between pages may not be kept
Questions
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Your browser does the work on your own device. The file is never sent to our servers or anyone else's.
How do I type the pages?
Use page numbers and dashes, separated by commas. “1-3, 5” means pages 1, 2, 3 and 5. “8-” means page 8 to the end, and “-4” means the start up to page 4. When extracting, pages come out in the order you type them.
What do I get when splitting into several files?
A ZIP file containing one PDF per part, numbered in order. Phones and computers open ZIP files without extra apps. If there is only one part, you get the PDF directly.
Will the pages lose quality?
No. Pages are copied exactly as they are; nothing is re-compressed.
Why was my PDF refused as protected?
Some PDFs are locked with a password or with restrictions on changes. Open the file, save or print a copy without protection, and use that copy.
