How your files stay private

Your browser decodes each image and saves it in the new format, in memory, on your device. The page is locked so it cannot send data to any other website. When you press Start over or close the tab, everything is cleared.

Questions

How do I convert JPG to WebP?

Select your JPG images on this page, keep WebP selected and press Convert to WebP. Your browser converts them on your device - nothing is uploaded - and you download the WebP files straight away.

Why convert to WebP?

WebP files are usually much smaller than JPG or PNG at similar quality, so pages load faster. All modern browsers open them, and transparency is kept.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Your browser converts them on your own device. They are never sent to our servers or anyone else's.

Which format should I choose?

WebP gives the smallest files at similar quality and suits websites. JPG works everywhere and suits photos. PNG keeps every pixel exactly and keeps transparency, but files are larger.

Will converting lower the quality?

PNG is lossless. JPG and WebP compress the picture; at High quality the difference is hard to see. Converting back and forth repeatedly loses a little each time, so keep your original.
